Growing up in Sweden, I was crafting short stories and poems at age six, telling everyone that “When I grow up, I'm going to be a writer (or a homemaker).” I’ve stayed creative ever since through writing as well as photography and painting. For the record, I gave up writing poems at seven. And sadly, I never learned to bake.
It was my passion for traveling and a fascination with foreign cultures that brought me to Santa Barbara, California, in 1992. I discovered journalism at city college a few years later and went on to study the vocation at California State University Northridge (CSUN). Simultaneously, I also studied photography, a passion sparked during a year of art school in Sweden.
In 2003, after nearly three years as Fitness and Research Editor for Spa magazine, I decided to try my luck as a freelancer. Today, still calling Santa Barbara my adopted hometown, I contribute to a range of national and local publications and businesses, specializing in anything from feature writing, content production and marketing to line editing, architectural photography and web design. I'm the Editor-in-Chief of Beverly Clark's Elite Wedding Collection magazine and a Contributing Editor to Spa.
I spend my time away from the computer running, hiking, salsa dancing and playing with my four dogs: Blitz, Bailey, Casper and Eddy, the latest and smallest addition to the family. I also volunteer as an adoption counselor at the Santa Barbara County Animal Shelter. I still love traveling and am always thinking up new places to discover.
